My Message

Each year, the Friends For Life Bike Rally cycles through our region raising funds for the Toronto People With AIDS Foundation (PWA).  The organization I have the privilege of working for, HIV/AIDS Regional Services (HARS) has benefitted from the work of the Bike Rally through the annual fundraising event held on the night the riders are in Kingston.  In 2019, HARS began to officially partner with PWA to raise funds with a three day ride from Kingston to Montreal, with a portion of the funds raised benefitting the local work of HARS.

On August 20th 2019,  I greeted the Rally Participants as they gathered for the annual fundraiser on the night the rally travels through Kingston. Seeing the energy and enthusiam of the participants moved and inspired me to join this beautiful, moving village of support and encouragement.  So I decided to set an example and sign myself up for the Three Day ride.

Then... We all know what happened.

Sadly, my plans to cycle to the 315 kilometeres from Kingston to Montreal can't happen this year due to the physical distancing measures that continue to be in place.  So for 2020, the Friends for Life Bike Rally is going virtual. Rather than cycling to Montreal, I'll cycle a total of 315 kilometers for the #Rally600 90-Day Challenge, from Mon May 11th – Sat August 8th, 2020.

I'm not an avid cyclist, so I expect to be the hot mess on the road.  But I'm doing it anyway!

This worthy cause still needs our support. Though life with HIV has changed and improved for many people, it's still a serious, chronic long term health condition. One filled with stigma and discrimination.

So I'm asking for your support for the 2020 edition of the ride. Please help us reach our goal of raising $5000 by clicking the link below to donate.

Donations of $20 or more will receive a charitable tax donation receipt which can be used for tax purposes.  Follow HARS Kingston on Facebook and Instagram and follow my training adventure as I prepare for the ride of my life.  Yikes!!!

Thank you so much,
